In 1972, Dostaly had his first one-man show at the Haitian-American Cultural Institute. His career continued to flourish with exhibits at many of the most prestigious galleries in Haiti, including the Red Carpet, Marassa, Mapou, Nehemy Jean, and Georges Nader. A new phase of his life began in 1986 with his arrival in New York. Within a year, his work attracted attention at a traveling exhibition of Haitian artists. Dostaly’s work was then exhibited at universities and schools in the New York metropolitan area, and he was featured in a New York Times article on Haitian art on Saturday, April 8, 1995. He has since exhibited his work around the world, including in galleries in Paris and Venezuela. In 1998, his work was featured prominently in the book Haitian Artists in America (H&H Printing).
